COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland will host its 2022 spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Maryland Stadium to celebrate the academic accomplishments of the Spring 2022 and Summer and Winter 2021 graduates. The spring commencement ceremony recognizes a group of graduates that have earned more than 9,000 bachelor's degrees, nearly 2,700 master's degrees and about 900 doctoral degrees from schools and programs across the university.
Author, illustrator and creator of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jeff Kinney ’93, will deliver the commencement address for the winter ceremony. Graduates and their families will also hear remarks from this year’s student speaker, M Pease ’22, who is graduating with high honors in psychology and minors in Asian American studies and public leadership. Honorary degrees will be conferred on longtime university benefactors Alma G. Gildenhorn ’53, Joseph B. Gildenhorn ’51 and Barry P. Gossett ’62.

To ensure access to the commencement ceremony, media must RSVP by Wednesday, May 18 at 3 p.m. to mediainfo@umd.edu.
PARKING/CHECK-IN:
Media must park in lots 1 or Z and enter through Gate H at Maryland Stadium to obtain their press pass, which will allow media access to the designated media area in the stands. Credentials are required. Press passes will be given to media who RSVP by the deadline noted above.
