Kathy Weaver is a highly accomplished faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Information Studies. She holds a PhD in Human Centered Computing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a master's degree in instructional systems development with a certificate in instructional technology from UMBC. Weaver's research interests include computerized learning experiences and computerized conversation agents. Her research and focus areas include data science, analytics, and visualization, human-computer interaction, and library and information science.
Weaver has been with the College of Information Studies as a senior lecturer and has made significant contributions to the field of information science. She has offered career services to students and developed information-type events that have helped students gain valuable insights into the field of information science. Weaver is also the leading organizing manager for the UMD Info Challenge, an annual event that brings together students, faculty, and industry professionals to collaborate on projects that address real-world challenges in the field of information science. The initiative provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field and to develop skills that are highly valued by employers.
