Biography:
Shawn Parry-Giles is a professor of communication and director of UMD's Center for Political Communication and Civic Leadership. An expert in political communications, rhetoric, and politics and the media, she is a frequent guest on NPR. Parry-Giles is the author and coauthor of numerous books, including Hillary Clinton in the News: Gender and Authenticity in American Politics (2014).
Parry-Giles' research has appeared in numerous professional publications, including the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Presidential Studies Quarterly and Rhetoric & Public Affairs. She is also co-editor of the Voices of Democracy, an online journal that was initially funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
