UMD Receives High Marks in U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Graduate School Rankings

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland was once again highly ranked in the U.S. News & World Report's 2016 Best Graduate School rankings, with 26 programs and specialties recognized. The College of Education's counseling and personnel services program was again ranked top in the country.

Some additional highlights from the university include:

  • The Robert H. Smith School of Business ranked No. 41 overall, while information systems ranked at No. 6, supply chain/logistics ranked at No. 19, entrepreneurship ranked at No. 22 and part-time MBA ranked at No. 26. 
  • The College of Education ranked No. 26 overall for the second consecutive year, while 6 programs, including counseling and personnel services, educational psychology, higher education administration, special education, curriculum and instruction, and education policy ranked in the top 25. 
  • The A. James Clark School of Engineering ranked No. 23 overall and No. 13 online, with four top 25 programs, including aerospace engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Biological engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering and materials engineering all additionally ranked in the top 50. 
  • The School of Public Health ranked No. 22 in public health, jumping 8 spots from the 2015 rankings (No. 30). 
  • The College of Agriculture & Natural Resources ranked No. 19 for veterinary medicine. 

In the 2015 rankings, released in March 2014, UMD was highly recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s Graduate Rankings in Criminology (ranked 1st), Speech Pathology (ranked 17th), Library & Information Studies (ranked 10th), Computer Science (ranked 15th), Physics (ranked 14th), Mathematics (ranked 14th), English (ranked 32nd) and History (ranked 30th) to name a few.
