UMD recognized for offering exceptional academic quality and affordability

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – For the eighth consecutive year, the University of Maryland has ranked in the top 10 among public universities in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s list of the Best College Values. UMD rose to No. 7 for in-state and No. 11 for out-of-state value.  In addition, UMD ranked No. 2 for in-state value among Big Ten public universities.

"The University of Maryland is honored for the recognition it has received from Kiplinger in this year’s list," said Shannon Gundy, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Maryland. "Our inclusion in the top 10 for the eighth consecutive year is a true testament to the consistent academic excellence and outstanding value we provide students and their families."

Each year, Kiplinger assesses the best value colleges by measurable standards of academic quality and affordability. Quality measures include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation.

The complete 2016 rankings are now available online at Kiplinger.com/links/college and will appear in print in the February 2016 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands January 5, 2016.
