UMD’s value was ranked No. 1 in Maryland, in the top 15 among public colleges and top 50 overall. In an effort to help students and their families make the best education decisions for their financial situations and evaluate likely return on their investment, Forbes assessed each institution on quality of education, alumni earnings, student loan debt, net price, graduation rate and pell grant recipients. Large public research universities dominated the top of the list with the University of California, Los Angeles and University of California, Berkley at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
