In both mentions, the University of Maryland is recognized for its offering of comprehensive aid programs for students who demonstrate financial need and the full offering of merit-based scholarships available to incoming students. The Banneker/Key, President's and Maryland Transfer scholarship programs are featured as keys to “what make a Maryland degree an exceptional value” by Princeton Review editors. In addition, UMD is highlighted for its academic support and honors programs, diversity of student body and proximity to tier-one research and internship opportunities in the nation's Capital.
