The Home of the Future
October 5

Take a look inside reACT, the UMD team’s entry in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon competition. Beginning October 5, the Solar Decathlon challenges student teams to design and build solar-powered homes. These innovative Terps traveled to Denver to showcase their sustainable, energy-efficient home of the future.

Building Together: An Investment for Maryland

On October 4, UMD announced a historic investment from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation that will transform the University of Maryland. Building Together: An Investment for Maryland will increase college access and affordability, inspire the next generation of engineering leaders and spark innovations that tackle today’s most daunting problems.

Helping Hops

The University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is collaborating with Flying Dog Brewery on a local hop production initiative. Development of the highest quality ingredients is top priority for these partners as they aim to cultivate and expand the hop farming industry on the east coast, starting with Maryland’s unique climate.

Greek Life Serves

Greek Life Serves, a 2016 Do Good Challenge team, flips additional food resources afforded to the fraternity and sorority houses on campus into meals for those in need in the Washington D.C. and surrounding areas. With these donations of time and food, Greek Life Serves continues its goal to address food insecurity and poverty in our community.

World-Class Research | This is Cole Field House

The new Cole Field house will change the way we approach the science of sport. A joint venture between The University of Maryland, College Park and The University of Maryland, Baltimore has created the Center for Sports Medicine, Health and Human performance – a game changer for research and exploration of the brain and nervous system.
